Social media has become everyone’s trend. Almost every person who owns an electronic device like a smartphone has at least one social media account. Due to covid crises many markets and industries have been severely affected due to reduced demand and supply of products and services. While the global GDP of rich countries fell, some countries were able to maintain or reduce their GDP losses. But there was a niche market that grew rapidly during this lockdown. It is clearly the social media market. Since its early days, the trending social media has grown tremendously. Social media has manipulated our minds to some extent to do certain things which may or may not be good for our health, culture, lifestyle etc. But there are more positive aspects than negative aspects. An example is that social media has enabled the presence of many businesses in the last couple of years. Individuals have also evolved their content consumption. Currently, almost half of the world's population uses social media. As the population grows and becomes more social media aware, this number is increasing. Many, if not most businesses, see social media as one of the most reliable marketing strategies. Social media is one of the biggest markets right now. The trend of social media has been transmitted peer-to-peer like a wave. Young people are the most active age group on social media.
Communication has become more important than ever. The best place to communicate well in remote areas is through social media. People working from home can easily communicate with their subordinates, employer or employees through social media. It is the main tool to communicate with people. Even apps have introduced tools like video calls and voice calls. This enables us to communicate easily and quickly with people we know and with strangers. Due to the covid crisis, many people are isolated at home. It has enabled people who have not been on social media recently to know about it. This has also increased the number of social media users.
Social media futures will increase in overall marketing, feature and availability area and factor. The future of social media looks bright and will be more brand-centric and people-centric. The frequency of ads will decrease over a period of time. Content will be more video-centric. Video content and audio content will rule the coming years.
